Help Your Students Make The Right choice
The snare drum music in your concert music will not tell you what type of roll to play. The composer will leave that for the musician to decide.
Since you are working with students, it is up to the teacher to coach the students on what to play in their concert music. They will not know, at first.
As the students continue to receive guidance, they will eventually be able to make the choices autonomously, giving you self-sufficient percussionists in your ensemble.
